Artist In Residence
Student letters

Students quoted here are from 8th grade
I thought pastels were just
another thing to draw with, but
now I know that pastels allow you
to see life, the way it really is
around you. I personally love art
and basically anything to do with
creativity and color. When you
were here you opened my eyes
to new colors, new creative
thoughts and ideas. Drawing
these landscapes allowed me to
express myself in a whole new
way. (M.S.)
I was, surprisingly, very excited
to come to art everyday and
pastel. You taught me it can be
fun. The way you explained it to
me the first time, I understood it
right away. The yellows and the
whites in my sky were difficult.
Once you went over it with me, the
sky looked beautiful.
In 6th grade I made my first pastel
painting, as I look at that today
and compare it to the one I did
this week, there is a huge
improvement. I believe the reason
for that is you. Thank you for
making me appreciate art better.
(K. D.)
You taught me how to blend
colors together. I like your positive
attitude. Without your help my
picture wouldn't look half as good.
(B.C.)
You helped me make my painting
better. If I hadn't had your help, I
wouldn't have known where to
start. You gave me a new outlook
on my source. Your lessons on
pastels were very educational.
Your love for art was shown in
your hard work. I enjoyed being
able to learn one on one from
you. (M. Y)
To understand the use of pastels
has given me a great influence on
art. Pastels were really fun and I
like the strokes they make. Last
week in art you really changed the
feeling and the emotion of my art.
Now I understand what colors go
with what and like art class. (C.S.)
Thank you so much
for  taking your time to
teach us about the
kind of art you love.
You were a great
teacher and it was
inspiring to see what
someone could do with
pastels... As my
picture became more
finished, I could begin
to see that the leaves
on the trees as leaves
and not just
lines.(Emily)
Thank you for helping
me with my drawing
and with what colors to
use for my pyramid
and also for my sky.
After you helped me
with that, I saw a really
big difference... You
have no clue how
much I enjoyed having
you come in and help
us and share your
amazing work with us.
(K.S.)
I would like to thank
the students and staff
for making my visit to

Park View Middle
School
a wonderful
experience. I, too,
loved coming to your
class! You all
motivated me! Keep
up the hard work! You
guys were great!

I learned that negative
space is just as
important as positive
space. Another thing I
learned is that when
drawing glass or silver,
glass or any other shiny
object you should draw
what is reflected in it.
There is no certain
silver, glass or shiny
color. Thank you once
again and Many times
more!
