| The brightly colored sticks I play with are such a joy to me. I love their versatility and their immediacy. It is my hope that I may pass my enthusiasm and love for this medium on to others. I have been working on and off as a substitute teacher for the elementary and middle school levels, and while doing this, I discovered a second love of mine- encouraging children of all ages, (adults too) in the arts...to pick up a pastel. It is amazing to me to watch one's confidence grow after making that first hesitant mark on the paper, to see their delight that this sometimes messy medium can be used to create something beautiful, and they did it by themselves. As different venues require different things, I am open to working with art teachers, coordinators, etc to come up with lesson plans and demonstrations tailored to their specific needs.
